Complete Applications Carefully

Incomplete applications will be returned. Successful out-of-province applicants will be ineligible to access any portion of the regular fund for 2 years from the date of the conference. Applicants who are approved for regular out-of-province funding must wait one full calendar year from the conference start date before accessing the Catholic Enrichment Fund for an out-of-province conference. Applicants who are approved for out-of-province conference from the Catholic Enrichment Fund must wait one full calendar year from the conference start date before accessing the regular fund for an out-of-province conference. However, applicants can access tuition, in-city/in-province conference from the Catholic Enrichment Fund.

Q: Who qualifies for funding?

A: Teachers under contract:
The committee can only offer financial support when the teacher is under contract at the date of the conference/workshop or course completion.

Q: How does the fund work?

A: A total of $300,000 plus 400 sub days is distributed over 4 segments:
Segment 1 –  from September to November

Segment 2 –  from December to March

Segment 3 –  April to June

Segment 4 –  July to August inclusive

Q: What are the funding amounts a teacher can receive?

A: Conferences/workshops/conventions: Individuals, under contract are entitled to the following maximum amounts:

Tuition allowance $400

In City $300

In Province $500

Out of Province $1250

up to 2 guest teacher (sub) days as required. One of these days may be used for travel if the conference location is over l50 km from the city of Calgary (based on the distance in the ‘Kilometrage Chart’ published by the Alberta Teachers Association).

Guest teacher (substitutes) fund allowance – $500 per school year for a conference/workshop or tuition

Q: If I am on a leave can I use the PGS fund?

A: Active members on leave who have paid the appropriate membership fees, may be funded to a maximum of $400.00.

Q: If I have used the fund for out of province, when can I access the fund again?

A: Fund Requirements:
1. Individuals under contract are entitled to Regular fund – 2 years from the date of the out of province conference and one year from the date of conference for Catholic funding.

2. Individuals under contract are entitled to Catholic fund – 2 years from the date of the conference and 1 year from the date of the conference for the Regular fund.

3. If you have not accessed out of province funding: Individuals, under contract are entitled to in-city, in-province and tuition funding – one application per school year starting September 1st and ending August 31st from Regular and Catholicity funding
