Scholarships and Bursaries

Applications for the 2020 Scholarship Applications will be posted in January 2020

(Applications for 2019 are closed)

How Many Available: 
A total of 6 Scholarships and 1 Bursary are awarded each year.

Value: $700 each​To Apply:
The current year forms are available  from CSSD Counselling Departments and on our website by at the end of January each year.

Deadline:  
The deadline for Scholarship applications is indicated on the current year form.

Announcement and Receipt:
Recipients are selected in mid May and announced in June.   The formal presentation of Scholarships is done in September of the following school year.

Available Scholarships and Bursaries:

 

1. Alexandra Jurisic Memorial Honor Roll Scholarship

Who Can Apply:  Children of present or former members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, Local 55.

Available:  Up to four awarded each year

Purpose: This Scholarship was created to give recognition to deceased teachers for their significant involvement in the Alberta Teachers’ Association and/or Local #55.  It is named after former President of Local 55, Alexandra Jurisic who made significant contributions to the ATA.

Usage Requirements: This Scholarship is awarded to offset costs of the recipients’ attendance at any recognized Post Secondary Institution.

Selection Criteria:

  1.  Demonstration of Above average Achievement
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities
  3. Recommendation of worthiness from a teacher


Proof of enrollment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized Post Secondary institution program by September of that current year, the Scholarship will then revert back to the Association for further allocation.

 

 

2. Alexandra Jurisic Memorial Honor Roll Bursary

Who Can Apply: Children of the present, or former members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, Local 55 in financial need.

Available: Up to two bursaries are awarded each year

Purpose: This Scholarship was created to give recognition to deceased teachers for their significant involvement in the Alberta Teachers’ Association and/or Local 55.

Usage Requirements: This Bursary is awarded to offset costs of the recipients’ attendance at any recognized Post Secondary Institution.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Need (Disability, Finance and Family consideration)
  2. Demonstration of Above Average Achievement
  3. Involvement in extra curricular activities
  4. Recommendation of his/her worthiness from a teacher


Proof of enrollment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized Post Secondary institution program by September of that current year, the Scholarship will then revert back to the Association for further allocation.

 

3. St. Mary’s University Scholarship: 

Who Can Apply: Any student who is in or has completed his/her Grade 12 year in Calgary Catholic School Division and will be attending St. Mary‘s University for the following school year.

Available: One St. Mary’s scholarship will be awarded annually

Usage Requirements: To offset the costs of the recipients’ attendance at St. Mary’s University.

Selection Criteria:

  1.  Demonstration of Above average Achievement
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities
  3. Recommendation of worthiness from a teacher

Proof of enrollment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized St. Mary’s University program by September of that current year, the Scholarship will then revert to the Association for further allocation.
