Calgary Catholic ATA Local 55 Open House

Our office staff did a great job on hosting the Local’s open house prior to Christmas. The evening was catered by our good friends from Roma Catering. The highlight for most of us was the display of Christmas cards from the students of CSSD. Thanks to our executive team for coming out to add the little touches that were so appreciated by our guests.

Trustee Forum

Our Local hosted an opportunity for voters to engage with the Trustee candidates on October 12th at St. Mary’s High School. Thank you to Local Political Engagement and Communications for facilitating a very robust discussion of the issues of concern for us as educators. Discussion from the candidates was focused on funding, classroom conditions, diversity in our classrooms, indigenous education and curriculum redesign. Thank you to the candidates in attendance for their dedication to serving Catholic education.

Beginning Teacher Conference

Thank you to Allison McCaffrey and the Professional Development Committee for getting our new teachers off to a great start with the Beginning Teachers Conference. Our Local and The District support this group with guest teachers as well as the Mentorship program which pairs up new teachers with experienced mentor teachers. Thank you to all the presenters including our own John Williamson.
